Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Addictions Counsellor - Diploma $29.584 to $36.176

Travel Required: Yes

: As a member of the interdisciplinary team, and under the general direction of the Manager of Mental Health and Addictions, the primary goal will be to restore, maintain and enhance the recovery of people seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues by implementing various modalities of addiction recovery programs.

Responsibilities include providing informational programming as well as individual and group counselling sessions with clients. This position will be expected to assess individual and group needs of clients and implement plans to help clients reach their goals. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Experience

- Minimum of one year experience in addictions/mental health would be desirable

Education

- Mental Health & Addictions Counselling Diploma

Licenses

- Valid Class 5 driver's license

Competencies

- Demonstrated skills w/ Addiction and Concurrent disorders assessment/counseling
- Problem solving skills

Knowledge and Abilities





- Knowledge in co-current disorders and issues related to gambling addictions
- Knowledge of how addictions impacts the individual, community and families
- Knowledge in best practices in addictions and harm reduction strategies
- Knowledge in group dynamics
- Knowledge in holistic addictions treatment model
- Knowledge of screening and addiction assessment tools and procedures.
- Knowledge Transtheoretical Model of Change
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to screen for addictions and/or addiction related symptoms

- Sandy Bay is located approximately 191 km north of Flin Flon
- Equivalent program acceptable to the employer may be considered
- Successful candidate with a home base other than Sandy Bay will be considered.
- Flexible option for two week in two week out work schedule is available.
- Costs for time, travel,



accommodations, other expenses will be paid by employer.
- Recruitment incentive of $7500 will be available for eligible successful candidate.
