Reporting to the Director of FANS, the Administrative Assistant plays a central role in supporting the administrative needs and daily operations of the FANS office and ensuring the smooth delivery of the FANS program. This position provides a full range of essential administrative services to the FANS office by overseeing the setup and organization of the office workplace, supporting the preparation and flow of correspondence, maintaining filing and information tracking systems, performing key human resource functions, and providing receptionist services in both Inuktitut and English. The position provides consistent, high‑quality support to FANS staff and students.

The quality and reliability of this position’s work is fundamental to the office’s ability to deliver the FANS program smoothly and uphold service standards for the public. Failure of this position to effectively carry out their job duties would negatively impact on the efficiency of FANS staff and the service the office provides to Nunavut students.

Department of Education The Department of Education (EDU) in the Government of Nunavut oversees early learning and K-12 schooling and supports adult education across the territory. It provides leadership, funding, curriculum development, and policy guidance to support student success in all communities. The department supports and administers 45 schools serving students from kindergarten through Grade 12 throughout Nunavut’s communities, helping ensure access to quality education grounded in Inuit culture and languages.

The department also licences and supports early learning and child care centres across the territory with funding, training and resource provision, and administers financial and other supports for Nunavut’s post-secondary studentsMinister of Education to create a healthy, strong, and flourishing Nunavut.
