As our AGM, you’ll play a key role in supporting the General Manager to drive the success, culture, and profitability of our venue. Your leadership will help shape our guest experience, develop our people, and build on our strong community connections.
POSITION OVERVIEW
As the Assistant General Manager (AGM), you support the overall success and profitability of the business, including training, recruitment decisions, marketing & promotions, cost effective maintenance, identifying and training managers, and supporting the community being served. You may undertake service duties on an as-needed basis, to be agreed with the General Manager (GM). As a deputy for the GM, you hold a key development position for candidates seeking more senior management opportunities within the organization, including General Manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Deputizes for General Manager in oversight of servers, bar staff, back of house as directed; manages relationships with suppliers / contractors as appropriate
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supports GM in recruiting, training, monitoring, and providing feedback to all staff, floor managers and supervisors
Supports management of all location employees including managers, oversight of contractors / vendors as appropriate
Alongside the GM,
ensures effective staff management through quality communication, mentoring and training to undertake duties and comply with all policies and procedures in place; creates positive, supportive working workplace through a coaching model comprised of setting the best examples around consistency, high service standards, mutual respect and team working
Receives customer concerns as escalated from direct reports and resolves in line with business philosophy to customer’s satisfaction; educates all staff to provide a service that generates repeat business and regular guests; responds to all customer enquiries / reservations within one business day (assigning to delegate as necessary)
Maintains awareness of the prevailing marketing strategy as developed by the Company, marketing team and GM
Responsible for awareness of overall fiscal management of the venue, including but not limited to all budgeted revenue and expense targets, continuous and prudent management of controllable costs; proactive communication regarding missed targets, ideally in advance for open, transparent discussion; supports GM in preparation of necessary data for reporting and budget development as required
Supports maintenance of overall environment and experience, including all building and equipment auditing and maintenance (includes building exterior and parking facilities)
Ensures all staff and contractors are compliant with statutory obligations under the Liquor Act, municipal bylaws, provincial and federal regulations and other legislation as applicable
Ensures health & safety plan requirements, including specific fire & evacuation procedures, are met, communicated to staff, and audited regularly
May undertake service shifts on a regular basis, schedule to be agreed with the GM and may include weekend/evening shifts as needed
Maintains transparent, open and collaborative partnership with the GM and support teams including head office functions
Supports staff compliance with all company policies, including retraining and coaching as required
Identifies candidates for promotion and provides opportunities for their growth through assignment to their responsibilities in absentia (with GM approval)
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Prior demonstrable experience at leadership level in a fast-paced liquor primary environment (2+ years)
Knowledge of appropriate statutory regulations and guiding principles including but not limited to Liquor Act, Occupational Health & Safety, Employment Standards, local bylaws governing live entertainment venues
Proven ability to communicate effectively and resolve patron issues in a professional, consistent manner

Pay: $40,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
