A well-established and respected BC seafood processing and logistics operation is seeking an Assistant Operations Manager to help coordinate the critical shore-side operations connecting commercial fishing vessels, fishermen, docks, logistics, warehousing and seafood processing.

We're particularly interested in speaking with candidates who bring firsthand commercial fishing, fishing vessel or marine operations experience and understand how the industry actually operates.

You'll work closely with senior leadership and experienced operational leaders while gaining exposure across vessel operations, seafood processing, logistics, warehousing and supply chain.

This is not a desk-only management role.

You'll spend time in the office, warehouse, processing plant and on the dock - communicating directly with fishermen and vessel operators, coordinating logistics and solving operational challenges in real time.

What You'll Be Doing

- Coordinate the movement of fish, bait, supplies and equipment between commercial fishing vessels, docks, warehouses and processing facilities
- Support scheduling, deployment and day-to-day logistics for active commercial fishing vessels
- Communicate directly with fishermen, captains, vessel operators, suppliers, freight providers, warehouse personnel and senior leadership
- Coordinate vessel requirements and help ensure bait, supplies, equipment and other operational needs are available when required
- Assist with freight and product movement throughout coastal BC
- Coordinate incoming fish deliveries with plant and warehouse operations
- Support production coordination, inventory movement, shipping and receiving
- Help assemble and coordinate outgoing orders and ensure shipment accuracy
- Troubleshoot vessel, freight, production and logistical issues in real time
- Support dockside, warehouse and plant operations when required
- Assist hands-on with unloading, palletizing and other operational requirements when needed
- Maintain accurate operational records, documentation and data
- Build strong working relationships with fishermen, suppliers and internal departments
- Anticipate operational requirements, take initiative and increasingly operate with autonomy

You understand that commercial fishing operations don't always follow a predictable schedule. Weather changes. Fisheries open and close. Vessels arrive at different times. Freight moves. Operational requirements change.

You're comfortable working in that environment, communicating with different personalities and solving problems as they happen.

Additional Experience Considered an Asset

- BC commercial fishing industry experience

Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: $85,000-$110,000+ per year, depending on experience

Compensation will reflect the depth and relevance of the successful candidate's background. Candidates bringing significant commercial fishing, fishing vessel, marine operations or seafood-industry experience will be considered toward the upper end of the range.

Work Environment & Schedule This is a hands-on operational position split between the:

- Office
- Processing plant
- Warehouse
- Dock and marine environments

The typical schedule is Monday to Friday, approximately 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, with flexibility depending on operational requirements. Occasional weekend availability may be required during peak fishing seasons, fishery openings and other critical operational periods.
