Delta Hockey Academy is seeking a motivated, organized Certified Athletic Therapist to support approximately nine Academy teams while providing clinical services through Delta Health &
Performance Clinic.
This role is ideal for an independent, confident therapist interested in working with developing and high-performance hockey athletes. You will oversee athlete health, injury management,
rehabilitation, concussion protocols, and return-to-play throughout the season.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide athletic therapy coverage for approximately 120 Academy games throughout the
season, plus required playoff coverage (approximately 2 weeks in March), with an additional $150 paid for every Academy game covered on top of the annual salary.
- Assess, treat, rehabilitate, and manage injuries for Academy athletes.
- Arrange qualified game-coverage replacements when unavailable for Academy games.
- Academy game coverage takes priority over external professional commitments.
- Provide clinical treatment to Academy athletes and external clients through Delta Health
& Performance Clinic.
- Manage appointments, documentation, waivers, treatment notes, and injury records
using Jane App.
- Administer baseline concussion testing, complete SCAT6 assessments, and manage
- HeadCheck and return-to-play protocols.
- Coordinate physician referrals, medical clearances, and twice-weekly return-to-play
meetings with Strength & Conditioning staff.
- Communicate injury status and participation updates with athletes, parents, coaches,
and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain medical kits and supplies for all Academy teams.
- Support preseason screening, movement assessments, injury-prevention strategies,
evaluations, showcases, camps, and Academy events.
Schedule
Regular season: September 1–March 10. Participate in approximately 14 days of playoff travel in March. Approved accommodation, transportation, and team meals will be covered.
Clinic hours:
Monday: 8:00 AM–3:15 PM
Wednesday–Friday: 7:00 AM–4:15 PM
Evening and weekend availability is required for game coverage, playoffs, and Academy events.
Spring program: April–June, including Wednesday and Thursday clinic hours to support spring ice sessions. Evaluations and female university showcase in April (5 days total).
Qualifications
Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT(A)) or equivalent recognized certification/licensing.
Current professional liability insurance.
Strong assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and injury-management skills.
Excellent organization, communication, and independent decision-making skills.
Reliable transportation and availability for evenings and weekends.
Experience with competitive or high-performance hockey.
Concussion assessment and return-to-play experience.
Experience in a clinic, academy, team, or multidisciplinary sport-performance setting.
Familiarity with Hockey Canada injury documentation and protocols.
Compensation & Advantages
Starting salary of $40,000, depending on start date, plus an additional $150 for every
Academy game covered. There are approximately 120 Academy games throughout the season, providing significant additional earning potential.
Six weeks of vacation.
Approved playoff travel expenses covered, including accommodation, transportation,
and team meals.
