Athletic Therapist

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Athletic Therapist to join the Winnipeg Monarchs (MJHL) team for the upcoming season. This position is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to gain valuable hands-on experience working directly with competitive hockey athletes.
Working with athletes ages 16–20, the Athletic Therapist will play an significant role in supporting the health, safety, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and overall well-being of our players throughout the season.
Responsibilities
- Provide athletic therapy coverage for team practices and games
- Assess and manage acute and chronic athletic injuries
- Provide first aid and emergency injury care as required
- Develop and implement appropriate treatment and rehabilitation plans
- Support injury prevention and player wellness initiatives
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical and injury records
- Monitor player progress and communicate rehabilitation updates to coaching and hockey operations staff as appropriate
- Assist with return-to-play protocols and ensure players are appropriately cleared before returning to competition
- Coordinate with physicians, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals when necessary
- Maintain and organize the team’s medical supplies and treatment equipment
- Ensure appropriate medical coverage and preparation for home and away games
- Educate players on injury prevention, recovery, treatment, and general health practices
- Maintain a professional and confidential environment for all athletes
- Perform other duties related to player health and safety as required
Qualifications
- Current Athletic Therapy or Physio Therapy certification/registration in Manitoba
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification
- Experience working with hockey players or competitive athletes is an asset
- Previous experience working with youth or junior-aged athletes is an asset
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, dependable, and approachable
- Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and a variable hockey schedule
- Commitment to maintaining athlete confidentiality and professional standards
Previous Junior Hockey experience is not required. We are looking for someone who is passionate about athlete health and development, eager to learn, and committed to providing a high standard of care to our players.
