Our partner is looking for a Backend Engineer, Payments based in Canada. Working across payments, risk, infrastructure, and product teams, you will help develop solutions that serve both enterprises and growing businesses. The position combines backend engineering, large-scale system design, production problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

You will contribute to a highly collaborative engineering environment while maintaining a strong focus on reliability, efficiency, and user experience. Collaborate with product, infrastructure, risk, and other cross‑functional teams to design and deliver new capabilities at scale. Mentor engineers, provide technical guidance, and support the growth and development of peers.

Apply sound engineering judgment to balance scalability, reliability, maintainability, and customer needs. 2–12+ years of skilled software engineering experience, excluding internships and co‑op placements. ~ Strong software development and coding skills in any programming language, with the ability and willingness to learn new languages as needed.



~ Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple technical and business workstreams. ~ Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on solving complex problems and creating high‑quality experiences for internal and external users. ~ Interest in working as a generalist across different technologies and technical stacks. ~ Practical knowledge of cloud‑based technologies and services is an advantage, including gRPC, GraphQL, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or comparable platforms. ~ Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and contribute constructively to team decision‑making.
