Rise Coffee House | Wellington, Ontario

Rise Coffee House is seeking a talented, reliable Baker to join our team. We are a small independent café and bakery focused on high-quality baked goods made from scratch, excellent coffee, and warm hospitality.

This position offers approximately 32-40 hours per week through October, with reduced hours available during the winter months, and full time hours through spring and summer. Shifts begin as early as 5:00 a.m., and weekend availability is required.

As Baker, you will work alongside our Head Baker to prepare a variety of freshly baked goods, including croissants, cookies, muffins, scones, cakes, bars, buns, and seasonal sweet and savoury pastries. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their craft, works efficiently, and is committed to producing consistently high-quality products.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and bake a wide range of baked goods according to recipes and production standards
- Measure, scale, and mix ingredients accurately, ensuring consistency and quality
- Shape, proof, bake, finish, and decorate products as required
- Prepare fillings, toppings, and other bakery components
- Operate and maintain bakery equipment, including ovens and mixers
- Monitor baking processes and adjust temperatures and timing as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment
- Wash dishes and assist with general kitchen cleaning
- Label, date, and store products using FIFO procedures
- Receive shipments, assist with inventory counts, and restock ingredients and supplies
- Communicate equipment issues, maintenance needs, and low-stock levels to management
- Support general café operations and team needs as required

Qualifications
- Previous baking experience or relevant culinary training is preferred




- Knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and bakery equipment
- Robust attention to detail and ability to produce consistent, high-quality products
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs
- Food Handler Certification is an asset (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire)
