Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Barn Manager to join our team at a family horse farm in Schomberg, Ontario. The ideal candidate will be the manager and report to the owner. They will assist in daily barn operations, ensuring the welfare of the horses and the cleanliness of the facilities and property. This position requires a strong work ethic, a care and deep love for animals, and the ability to work in all weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Animal Care:
- Feed and care for horses and cat on-site.
- Monitor animal health and behaviour, reporting any concerns to the supervisor.
- Administer medications
- Assist in grooming, and handling of animals as needed
- Apply bell boots, fly masks, blankets, and other seasonal dressings to horses as required.
- Barn Maintenance:
- Clean and maintain barn facilities, ensuring a secure and sanitary environment.
- Mucking out stalls, waste removal, and other upkeep tasks to promote animal comfort.
- Communication
- Maintain clear and effective communication with boarders, vendors, and teammates to ensure smooth operations and address any concerns promptly.
- General Farm Duties:
- Cleaning and filling water troughs
- Dusting




- Other ad hoc duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- Experience:
- Previous experience with horses is required.
- Ability to determine if a horse is in distress.
- Comfortable handling horses with different temperaments.
- Familiarity with farm equipment and machinery is advantageous.
- Experience working with people with Autism is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and capability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions.
- Certifications:
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to operate farm vehicles is a plus.

Working Conditions:

- This position requires physical labour, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions.

Job Type: Part-time Pay: From $21.00 per hour
