POSITION SUMMARY:
The Benefits and Wellness Administrator position is responsible for providing administrative work and planning, day to day technical support of group benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, long-term and short-term disability, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, employee assistance program, pension plan, temporary employees insurance and includes any other benefit plans amendments). Ensure efficient and accurate benefits records for employees. Completion of annual pension plan government reporting, update required information for accounting and adhere to confidentiality requirements.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Ensures legal compliance with laws pertaining to employee benefits such as Pension Perks Standards Act,
Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) and Privacy Laws.
1. Complete the annual pension plan government report and submit to OSFI by June 30th deadline. Ensure report
is reviewed with the Supervisor by March 31st of each year prior to submission to the government office.
1. Pension plan government report annual employee statistics and salary totals required for OSFI report to be
updated on or by last day of each month in excel format for each calendar year.
1. Contact Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for copy of pension plan audited statements by March 31st for each
calendar year. If pension audit report is not available, contact CFO by email or memorandum to enquire when report may be completed; provide copy of correspondences to Supervisor.
1. Submit on a monthly basis the actual premiums paid template for the group insurance and pension plan by the
last working day of each month.
1. Create wellness programs monthly that focus on different aspects of both physical and mental wellness for
staff. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
- Knowledge of laws pertaining to employee benefits and wellness.
- Knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping concepts; excellent mathematical skills.
- Good public speaking skills required for facilitating group insurance and pension plan information gatherings.
Education and Experience Post-Secondary Certificate in Business Administration, Office or Management required.
Post-Secondary Diploma in Business Administration, Office or Management preferred.
Three years’ related experience.
