About us

Football Toronto is a volunteer-run, registered non-profit corporation (OCN (phone hidden)) representing the contact football community in Toronto, Ontario. We advocate, preserve, and grow the game by reducing barriers to participation and by developing teams, athletes, coaches, and referees. We are associate members of Football Ontario, the provincial sport organization.

Our committees of volunteers each own a specific growth initiative, and our programming work includes partnerships with clubs, schools, and the Toronto Argonauts.

The role

Directors are collectively responsible for the long-term success of the organization: strategic direction, financial oversight, risk management, and holding the organization to its mandate. The two Directors joining now will help set the organization's next strategic cycle and will carry the operating experience of the past several seasons into it.

Commitment

- Term of three years, renewable by vote of the Board
- Approximately 9 board meetings per year, 90 minutes each
- One sub-committee, requiring 2 to 3 hours per month across 1 to 2 meetings
- One half-day strategic planning session annually

What we are looking for We recruit for the composition of the Board as a whole. With two seats open, we are prioritizing candidates who bring real depth in one of the following:

- Finance — non-profit financial oversight, budgeting, audit, and reporting
- Event coordination — tournaments, showcases, and community events at scale
- Governance — policy formulation, bylaws,



risk identification, and board process
- Government relations — municipal and provincial advocacy, field access, and public funding
- Corporate partnership and fundraising — sponsorship development and revenue growth

Core requirements for all Directors:
- 18 years of age or older
- Capacity to meet the time commitment consistently
- Sound judgment, ethical conduct, and a values-based approach to decision-making
- Willingness to act as an ambassador for the organization

Prior non-profit or community board experience is an asset, not a requirement. If you have the expertise and not the board experience, apply. What success looks like in year one

- Consistent attendance and substantive contribution at Board meetings
- Active service on a sub-committee, lending your expertise to the management team's operational goals
- Introductions and connections that build awareness, partnerships, and financial support

Compensation This is an unpaid volunteer position. No remuneration is provided.
