Job Summary
Celernus Investment Partners Inc. is an investment management firm based in Burlington, Ontario. We are a family-sized organization that values accuracy, integrity, collaboration, and a supportive working setting.
We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Accountant to maintain the accounting records for our corporate entities and real estate properties. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with approximately one to four years of relevant experience who has a solid accounting foundation, enjoys keeping financial records organized, and is interested in continuing to learn.
The successful candidate will work primarily in QuickBooks Online and will support day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciliations, financial reporting, property records, and year-end accounting requirements.
Duties
- Maintain complete and accurate accounting records for multiple corporate entities and properties.
- Record invoices, payments, receipts, deposits, expenses, and other financial transactions in QuickBooks.
- Complete regular bank, credit-card, loan, and other reconciliations. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities. Prepare and post routine journal entries and other adjustments.
- Maintain organized electronic records for invoices, receipts, leases, contracts, statements, and other accounting documentation.
- Identify missing information, unusual transactions, or discrepancies and follow up promptly.
- Prepare schedules, reports, and supporting working papers for management and external accountants.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures.
- Assist with HST returns, corporate tax, audits, and other regulatory or year-end requirements.
- Help improve and document bookkeeping procedures, controls, and recurring processes.
- Coordinate professionally with internal team members and external service providers.
- Assist with other accounting, administrative, and special projects as required.
Skills
- One to four years of bookkeeping, accounting, or related financial-record experience.
- Previous hands-on experience with QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online is preferred.
- A degree in accounting, finance, business, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of general bookkeeping principles, including debits and credits, and reconciliations.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Excel for reconciliations, schedules, and financial analysis.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate, well-supported records.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage recurring deadlines across multiple companies.
- Able to work independently while communicating questions, issues, and progress clearly.
- Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential business and financial information.
- Explicit written and verbal communication skills.
