Happy in my Home (HIMH) Community Support Services of Niagara (CSSN) is a client-driven, volunteer based, not-for-profit agency providing comprehensive support services to assist older adults and adults with disabilities to live independently in their own home.
HIMH is currently seeking kind, caring, compassionate individuals that thrive on making a difference in the community by supporting our clients with either: deep housekeeping duties, including hoarding, general minor repairs and/or yard work .
This role is integral to the safety of our clients while they live independently with dignity and happy in their own home.
There is a growing demand for kind, caring, compassionate individuals to support our clients across the Niagara Region, especially in Niagara Falls.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carry out medium to heavy housekeeping tasks, or general minor repairs or yard work based on your skillset.
- Comply with all agency policies.
- Maintain correct and adequate records of all work completed.
- Advise of concerns noted in client’s condition or safety issues in client’s home.
- Refrain from providing the following activities including, personal care, lifting of client, dispensing medications, providing advice such as legal, medical, etc.
- Advise if you can no longer be a Brokered Worker or will be away for a length of time.
- To be a good listener and respect the needs, decisions, and rights of the client.
- To maintain confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior residential cleaning experience preferred.
- Prior contractor or general minor repair experience.
- Prior landscaping experience.
- Successful completion of a vulnerable sector police check and mandatory orientation.
- Willingness to travel within the identified catchment area in the Niagara Region.
- Access to a reliable vehicle with $1 million liability automobile insurance; required.
- Valid Ontario Driver's License.
- Must be insured; proof of insurance required.
- Must be an independent brokered worker.
- The ability to effectively work independently.
- The ability to maintain correct, up-to-date, and accurate records.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- To be kind, caring and compassionate.
- Ability to speak French an asset.
