Responsibilities

PRIMARY PURPOSE In collaboration with the Senior Emergency Management Advisor, develops, implements, and ensures quality and completeness of business continuity plans for all BCRTC and West Coast Express (WCE) business units. Ensures the suitability of those plans for providing effective continuation of essential operations in the event of an emergency or disaster. Supports business units in creating and maintaining robust Business Continuity plans. Maintains records related to business continuity and communicates and updates concerns to appropriate stakeholders. Acts as an expert technical resource for management and staff relating to business continuity processes, approaches, and concepts.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Ensures the quality and completeness of business continuity plans for all BCRTC business units by developing and maintaining the Business Continuity program for the organization, including associated processes, standards, and procedures.

In collaboration with the Senior Emergency Management Advisor, supports initiatives to address program gaps or implement program improvements, and conducts regular assessments of business continuity plan quality and completeness across all BCRTC business units, identifying gaps or areas of improvement for individual business unit plans.

Plans, organizes, and conducts table-top exercises and drills to test the effectiveness and completeness of plans,



documenting and reporting on the outcomes of the exercises and drills to management, identifying gaps and areas of concern, and communicating outcomes to appropriate stakeholders.

Supports business units as needed in developing, leading, or assisting in the development of suitable business continuity plans, promoting awareness of business continuity requirements throughout the organization, and providing training to staff as needed in matters relating to business continuity.

Maintains, tracks, and analyzes data pertaining to business continuity activities and plans, and prepares business continuity reports and communications to Management and Executives.

Maintains a central repository of business continuity plans, including a consolidated organizational plan.

Participates in special projects and committees as required, including leading meetings as required to discuss business continuity issues.

Acts as an expert technical resource for management and staff relating to business continuity processes, approaches, and concepts. Maintains currency in business continuity best practices within the TransLink enterprise and across the transportation industry.

Forms and maintains relationships with business continuity professionals both internal and external to TransLink.

Supports the Senior Emergency Management Advisor in collaborative projects, activities, preparing budgets and plans.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline, plus three (3) years of experience in a planning role, preferably in the public sector. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Solid knowledge of the concepts, principles, practices, and techniques pertaining to business continuity.

Solid communication and interpersonal skills to be able liaise effectively with leaders and staff across the enterprise and with external stakeholders.

Good problem-solving skills with solid analytical skills to identify innovative approaches and recommend solutions to mitigate risks. Solid prioritizing, organizing and time management skills.

Solid working knowledge of standard office software, including word processing, spreadsheets,



presentations, and web-based systems.

Willingness to work outside of shift hours if needed to accommodate for emergency response, training, and other needs.

Positive planning and organizational skills to develop business continuity plans, and plan and conduct related projects and exercises.

Other Information

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

Work Schedule

37.5 hours per week.

Work Designation

Resident This position works predominately on-site.

Rate of Pay

The salary for this position ranges from $77,520 - $116,280 per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role. We aim to provide competitive pay that reflects your professional background and expertise. We want to ensure our offer will align with your strengths considering experience, skills, and internal equity to offer a fair and equitable salary. The Total Compensation Package, which includes Extended Health, Dental, Transit Pass and enrollment in the Public Service Pension Plan as well as other employment offerings will be discussed in detail as your application progresses.
