Experienced Residential Renovation Carpenter / Service Technician

About the Position

We provide custom residential renovations as well as on-site repair and service work in rental units throughout Waterloo Region.

We are seeking an experienced, skilled and dependable renovation carpenter/tradesperson to join our team.

This is a hands-on position for someone with a broad knowledge of residential carpentry and renovations who is comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.

The successful candidate will take pride in their workmanship, be able to problem-solve on site, and have the experience necessary to complete a variety of renovation and service tasks to a high standard.

This is not an entry-level or general labour position. A minimum of 3 years of hands-on carpentry/residential renovation experience is required.

Responsibilities The successful candidate will be expected to:

- Perform a variety of residential renovation, carpentry and repair work.
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of residential construction and renovation practices, procedures and techniques.
- Safely and competently use the tools and equipment associated with the trade.
- Assess on-site situations and determine appropriate methods to complete assigned work.
- Work independently when required and communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
- Complete work with robust attention to detail and quality.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully while working in customers’ homes and occupied rental units.
- Upload job-site photographs and communicate job progress to the supervisor as required.





Minimum Qualifications — Please Read Before Applying Applicants must meet the following requirements:

- Minimum 3 years of hands-on residential carpentry and/or renovation experience.
- Broad working knowledge of residential construction and renovation.
- Ability to work independently without requiring instruction in basic carpentry or renovation skills.
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence and clean driver’s abstract.
- Current and valid Working at Heights certification.
- Mobile phone with a data plan for job-site communication and uploading photographs.
- Own the basic tools of the trade.
- Ability to speak, read and write English.

Additional Qualifications The following are considered assets:

- Skilled Trade Certificate, AEC/DEP or equivalent training.
- Lifting Device/Elevated Work Platform certification.
- Additional residential renovation or construction certifications.
- Experience performing service work in occupied residential or rental properties.

What We Provide

- Full-time, year-round employment.
- 40–44 hours per week.
- Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Compensation $27.50–$34.00 per hour, commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience.
