Role Description The CFAA Fire Alarm Technician is a full time, onsite role based in Hamilton, ON, responsible for installing, inspecting, testing, and maintaining Maple Armor fire alarm systems in a variety of facilities. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing scheduled and corrective maintenance, verifying system functionality, diagnosing and resolving equipment and wiring issues, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards. The technician will complete detailed service reports, interpret drawings and specifications, and support commissioning activities for new installations.
This role requires regular interaction with building owners,
contractors, and other stakeholders to explain findings, provide recommendations, and deliver professional, safety-focused service. The technician will collaborate with Maple Armor’s technical team, follow established procedures, and uphold workplace safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
- CFAA certification and solid knowledge of fire alarm and life safety codes and standards.
** NOTE - at this time we are not accepting applications from CFAA trainees. We are seeking a fully licensed technician, at the junior level or higher.
- Skills in Low Voltage Engineering and alarm systems, including installation, programming, and verification of fire alarm equipment.
- Strong Troubleshooting capabilities for diagnosing and resolving issues in low-voltage circuits, control panels, and field devices.
- Experience with Alarm Systems and Life Safety practices, including testing, inspection, documentation, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Customer Service skills to communicate clearly with clients, address concerns, and provide professional onsite support.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
- Comfort working on ladders and in various building environments, with a strong focus on personal and workplace safety.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally to job sites as required.
- Previous experience in fire alarm service or related low-voltage field work is an asset.
