Since 1888, the Ottawa Humane Society (OHS) has been the leading organization providing a safe haven for sick, injured and homeless animals in Ottawa. As a non-profit, community-based organization and a registered charity, OHS’s mandate covers a broad spectrum of animal welfare concerns whose priorities include public education and pet population control through a host of programs and services offered to the community. Directed by a governing board of 15 volunteers, OHS employs 145 dedicated staff of animal care, outreach workers and administrative staff, augmented by a large and very important complement of volunteers.
Financially stable and growing, OHS has an annual budget of around $14 million.
Reporting to the President & CEO, the newly created role of Chief Corporate Services Officer (CCSO) is a key member of the senior leadership team and will play a critical role in shaping the long-term success, sustainability, and operational excellence of the Ottawa Humane Society. As the organization continues to evolve and expand its impact within the community, the CCSO will provide strategic leadership across a broad corporate services portfolio including finance, administration, information technology, facilities, fleet, and organizational infrastructure. This is an exceptional chance for a values-driven executive to contribute to an organization with a deeply meaningful mission, while leading modernization initiatives, strengthening organizational effectiveness, supporting enterprise-wide decision-making, and ensuring the responsible stewardship of resources that enable OHS to serve animals and the community for generations to come.
The CCSO will partner closely with the President & CEO, senior leadership team, and Board to support strategic planning, manage risk, drive continuous improvement, and help position OHS for continued growth and success.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative and strategic leader with a demonstrated track record of delivering operational excellence while supporting long-term organizational sustainability. A seasoned executive with significant experience leading finance, administration, and corporate services functions, they bring strong business acumen, sound judgment, and the ability to translate strategic priorities into effective operational plans. Comfortable operating in complex and evolving environments, they possess exceptional analytical, relationship-building, and communication skills, and are recognized for their ability to lead change, develop high-performing teams, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
An engaging and trusted partner to colleagues, senior leaders, and Board members alike, the successful candidate will be motivated by the opportunity to contribute their expertise in support of an organization whose mission has a profound impact on animals and the broader Ottawa community.
