Position Overview

Verismo Health Inc. is seeking an International Medical Graduate (IMG) to join our clinical team as a

Clinical Assistant / Medical Office Assistant.

This position is well suited for an IMG who is seeking Canadian healthcare experience and would like to work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals in a primary care clinic environment.

The successful candidate will provide a combination of ]clinical and administrative support, assisting physicians with patient assessments, preventive healthcare services, vaccinations and immunizations, Pap testing, specimen collection, and other appropriate clinical procedures under the direction, supervision, and scope permitted by the clinic and applicable Ontario requirements.

The role requires strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

Assist physicians and healthcare providers with day-to-day clinical activities and patient care.

Prepare examination rooms and ensure appropriate clinical supplies and equipment are available.

Obtain and document patient information, including medical histories, medication information, allergies, and relevant clinical information, as directed.

Assist with patient intake, vital signs, and other routine clinical measurements as appropriate.

Support physicians during patient examinations and clinical procedures.

Assist with vaccination and immunization clinics, including patient preparation, documentation, post-vaccination observation, and maintaining accurate immunization records.

Assist with Pap tests/Pap smears, including patient preparation, chaperoning where required, assisting the physician or authorized healthcare provider, specimen handling, labeling, and documentation.

Assist with collection, preparation,



and handling of appropriate patient specimens in accordance with clinic protocols.

Provide clinical support for preventive healthcare initiatives and screening programs.

Assist with basic wound care, dressing changes, and other routine clinical procedures where appropriately trained and authorized.

Support physicians with appropriate clinical documentation and follow-up activities.

Monitor and maintain clinical supplies and notify management when supplies need to be replenished.

Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including appropriate cleaning, disinfection, and use of personal protective equipment.

Follow all applicable clinic policies, patient safety procedures, privacy requirements, and professional standards.

Patient Care & Communication

Greet and interact with patients in a professional, respectful, and compassionate manner.

Obtain relevant information from patients and communicate information appropriately to the physician or healthcare provider.

Explain routine clinic procedures and provide patients with appropriate instructions as directed by the physician or authorized healthcare provider.

Maintain patient comfort, dignity, and privacy throughout clinical interactions.

Assist patients who may require additional support navigating the clinic or accessing healthcare services.

Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, MOAs, and other members of the healthcare team.

Administrative Responsibilities

Schedule and coordinate patient appointments and follow-up visits.

Register patients and maintain accurate demographic and medical information in the EMR.

Input, update, and maintain electronic medical records and supporting documentation.

Assist physicians with documentation, forms, referrals, requisitions, and other clinical paperwork.

Process laboratory requisitions, diagnostic imaging requests, referrals, and other documentation as directed.

Maintain organized and confidential patient records.

Assist with insurance forms, billing documentation, and other administrative requirements.

Support clinic reporting, filing, document tracking, and other administrative activities.

Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with applicable Ontario privacy and healthcare requirements.

Qualifications

International Medical Graduate (IMG) with a medical degree from an accredited medical school.

Strong understanding of basic clinical medicine, patient assessment, preventive healthcare, and common primary care practices.

Previous clinical experience in a hospital, family practice,



outpatient clinic, or healthcare setting is preferred.

Experience with vaccinations, immunizations, Pap testing/Pap smears, specimen collection, and other clinical procedures is an asset.

Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control practices.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.

Ability to work effectively with physicians, nurses, MOAs, and other healthcare professionals.

Comfortable working in a quick-paced primary care environment.

Solid computer and EMR skills; experience with electronic medical records is an asset.

Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.

Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Important Scope of Practice Requirement

- The Clinical Assistant will perform clinical duties only within the scope permitted by applicable Ontario requirements, clinic policies, training, and the direction or supervision of the appropriate regulated healthcare professional.
- This position does not independently authorize the successful candidate to diagnose, prescribe, treat, or perform controlled medical acts that they are not legally authorized to perform in Ontario.
- Training and competency requirements will apply to clinical procedures performed as part of the role.

Work Schedule

- Full-time, 35–40 hours per week
- On-site position
- Schedule may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and shift work depending on clinic operational requirements.
- Flexibility to work within a primary care/walk-in clinic environment is required.
