Commercial Analyst

Pivotal is seeking a Commercial Analyst to join our growing team in Calgary. This is a full-time, in-office role, ideal for a commercially minded professional with a strong interest in energy markets and midstream infrastructure.

In this role, you will mainly focus on supporting the commercial team with market analytics and scheduling activities while optimizing internal processes across multiple groups. You will play a key role in analyzing market dynamics, identifying opportunities, and helping shape commercial strategies across the midstream value chain.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Intelligence & Analysis

· Analyze crude oil, NGL, and refined product markets across Western Canada and key North American hubs

· Monitor supply/demand fundamentals, pipeline flows, storage dynamics, and pricing trends

· Track and interpret regional pricing and differentials (e.g., WTI, MSW, WCS, AECO, etc)

· Develop market outlooks, reports, and scenario analyses

Scheduling & Mid-Office Support

· Provide support to the scheduling and the facilities team for truck, rail, and pipeline shipments

· Assist scheduling with customs, rail rates, customer reports, and invoicing





· Maintain revenue forecasting and asset performance models

· Monitor contracts, pricing, and volumes

· Assist with settlement, volume reconciliations, and customer support

· Provide alignment across all internal teams and stakeholders

Data & Insights

· Build and maintain dashboards and analytical tools to track key metrics (flows, utilization, pricing)

· Synthesize complex datasets into transparent, actionable insights for internal and external use

· Prepare presentations and reports for senior stakeholders

Analytical & Financial Support

· Assist with economic analysis of marketing and infrastructure opportunities

· Support basic financial modeling and scenario analysis (e.g., netbacks, sensitivities)

· Collaborate with team members on broader commercial and advisory projects

Preference will be given to candidates that have the following qualities/skills:

· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline

· 0-2+ years of experience in energy markets, oil & gas, or midstream-related roles

· Familiarity with Western Canadian energy markets and infrastructure

· Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with data tools (Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or Python) is an asset
