Licensed Heavy Duty Equipment Technician / CVIP Inspector (Full-Time, Part-Time, or Semi-Retired)
Location: 16806 118 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB
Job Type: Full-Time, Part-Time, or Flexible Schedule
About the Role
We are looking for a qualified Heavy Duty Mechanic with an active Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) license to join our team at our Edmonton facility. Whether you are looking for a full-time position, a predictable part-time routine, or you are semi-retired and want to keep your hands in the trade without the physical grind of full time wrenching, we have a spot for you.
We respect the expertise that comes with years on the floor. In this role, your primary focus will be performing safety inspections, completing compliance paperwork, and ensuring our commercial fleet meets all Alberta Transportation regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough CVIP inspections on commercial trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment in accordance with provincial standards.
- Complete inspection reports, log defect details, and issue inspection stickers accurately.
- Identify necessary repairs and communicate safety concerns to the maintenance team and shop manager.
- Perform light maintenance or sign off on repairs performed by apprentices (scope depends on your preferred workload).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
What We’re Looking For
- Valid Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Journeyperson certification (or equivalent Red Seal).
- Active, valid Alberta CVIP Inspection License/Authorization.
- Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle safety standards and compliance regulations.
- High attention to detail and pride in thorough, accurate work.
- Reliability, strong ethics, and a solid safety track record.
Why Join Us?
- Flexible Hours: We can structure shifts around your lifestyle—perfect for semi-retired mechanics looking for 2–3 days a week or flexible morning/afternoon schedules.
- Lower Physical Strain: Focus primarily on inspections, diagnosis, and sign-offs rather than heavy teardowns (unless desired).
- Competitive Compensation: Top-tier hourly rates that honor your experience level.
- Great Shop Environment: A clean, well-lit bay in convenient NW Edmonton with supportive management and a respectful team culture.
Pay: $30.00-$45.00 per hour
Benefits
- Flexible schedule
- On-site parking
Work Location: In person
