Position Details The Community Sports Stadium Operator (Casual) reports directly to the Manager, Athletic & Recreation Facilities and provides operational and event support at the Community Sports Stadium. This position is primarily scheduled during weekday evenings and weekends to support stadium bookings, practices, games, tournaments, and special events.
We are seeking multiple dependable, hands-on individuals who are comfortable working independently, using tools and equipment, and assisting with the day-to-day operation and maintenance of an outdoor sport facility.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Providing operational coverage for evening and weekend stadium bookings, practices, games, tournaments, and special events.
- Completing facility opening and closing procedures, regular facility walkthroughs, and monitoring user group activities to ensure the safe and appropriate use of the Stadium.
- Setting up, monitoring, and taking down equipment for bookings and special events, including field and sport equipment, tables, chairs, signage, and other event requirements.
- Performing hands-on maintenance and operational tasks, including minor equipment repairs,
sign installation, artificial turf maintenance, weed control, snow removal, and general facility upkeep.
- Safely operating Stadium equipment and utility vehicles, including Gators/UTVs, turf maintenance equipment, pressure washers, snow removal equipment, and other powered or hand-operated tools.
- Assisting full-time Facility Operations staff with preventative maintenance, inspections, equipment repairs and replacements, and other technical operational tasks.
- Identifying facility or equipment issues and taking appropriate action or reporting concerns to Facility Operations staff.
- Providing event support and responding to operational issues that arise during bookings and events.
- Performing basic janitorial and housekeeping duties to maintain clean, secure, and presentable stadium spaces.
- Providing Intermediate First Aid response when required.
Hourly Rate: $21.87
Position Qualifications
- Comfortable performing hands-on, mechanical, maintenance, or technical work and using common hand and power tools.
- Experience operating utility vehicles, maintenance equipment, landscaping equipment, or similar machinery is considered an asset.
- Mechanically inclined with an ability to troubleshoot basic equipment and facility issues.
- Able to perform physical work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Reliable and able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Strong communication and customer service skills when interacting with user groups, teams, officials, and event organizers.
- Previous experience in facility operations, recreation facilities, sports fields, maintenance, landscaping, construction, trades, or a related environment is considered an asset.
- Intermediate First Aid certification is considered an asset.
Starting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)
