Community Inclusion Facilitator

Looking for a meaningful part-time job that gets you out into the community?

We're looking for an energetic, creative and outgoing Community Inclusion Facilitator to work alongside our 23-year-old son as he builds a full, active and connected life in his community.

This isn't a traditional caregiving role. In fact it is quite the opposite. It's about creating opportunities, making connections, building relationships and supporting greater independence and belonging.

No previous experience in disability services is required. We're much more interested in finding the right person and mindset.

What You'll Do

Our son is a young man with autism and an intellectual disability. Your role is to get to know his interests, goals, strengths and communication and help turn them into meaningful opportunities in the community.

This might include

- Recreation and fitness
- Volunteering or employment
- Exploring recent interests and opportunities
- Helping him become more involved in places he already enjoys
- Meeting people and making introductions
- Helping relationships and natural connections develop

The goal isn't simply to accompany him to activities. It's to help him become known, connected and included - to develop relationships, contribute to his community, find places where he belongs and become increasingly independent. You'll be part of a collaborative team, but we also want you to bring your own ideas, interests and creativity to the role.

Students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply. You might be studying recreation, kinesiology, education, psychology, social sciences, community development—or something completely different. A particular credential or disability-services background isn't what we're looking for. Who you are and how you approach people matters more.

Hours

Starting September 8, 2026, with a minimum commitment of two shifts per week:

- Weekdays: 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and/or 1:00 - 6:00 p.m.
- Weekends: approximately 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
- Occasional additional shifts available

Location & Pay Clayton Park, Halifax - near Dunbrack & Willett

$20/hour + mileage and activity-related expenses

Requirements

- Valid driver's licence and reliable access to a vehicle
- First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain
- Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
