CONSTITUENT ADVOCATE
LOCATION: Constituency Office of Elizabeth May, MP Saanich-Gulf Islands, Sidney, BC
Primary focus is managing and solving constituency cases regarding access to federal agencies:
- Receives request from Constituent - meets with Constituent to assess needs;
- Manages file for Constituent keeping Member informed and engaged to achieve resolution;
- Takes action, tracks and documents all communications related to the file (with Constituent, Minister offices and with Service Canada);
- Keeps Constituent up to date on developments. Assists with in-office operations: answering the phone, greeting walk-ins, as needed.
Assists with special events and community meetings in Saanich-Gulf Islands, as needed.
Position Requirements
- Experience in field of social work. A post-secondary degree in social work will be an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills, experience working with clients to settle conflicts.
- Familiarity in navigating Federal agencies such as Revenue Canada, Immigration Canada, Service Canada.
- Familiarity with local issues of the Saanich-Gulf Island, Vancouver Island.
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative workplace is essential.
- Ability to handle, and to adapt to changes in casework; respond quickly to urgent cases. A strong sense of urgency.
- Capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good writing skills.
- Exercises discretion and maintains confidentiality.
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Office
Pay: From $27.00 per hour Expected hours: 24.0 per week
