Duties & Responsibilities:
- Extensive knowledge of accounting software applications, and integration between multiple software applications
- Review and approve daily transactions
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Review and analyze monthly revenue and expenses
- Monitors restricted funds and ensures spending matches specific grant requirements
- Balance Microsoft FRX reports to Great Plains financial statements
- Prepare monthly journal entries and financial statements and notes for the Executive Director and the Board
- Close month end
- Prepare and submit quarterly reports within the approved timelines using ministry software
- Close year end
- Prepare and submit audited financial statements to the Ontario Health West (OHW) and Ministry of Health (MOH) within the approved timelines using ministry software
- Complete the Annual Reconciliation Report using ministry software and submit the approved report to OHW with a hard copy to be provided to OHW and MOH within the approved timelines
- Liaise with the OHW regarding financial matters
- Prepare and balance annual budget in consultation with management
- Prepared draft budget for board approval
- Complete budget with ministry software and submit to OHW within prescribed timeline
- Monitor and report variances to budget to the Executive Director on a monthly basis
- Monitor cash flow
- Attend monthly management and administrative team meetings
- Participate in committees as required, such as Finance Committee meetings and Board meetings in which financials and budgets are being discussed
- Establish purchasing practices to ensure accountability and adequate availability of office supplies
- Oversee the establishment and maintenance of inventories of assets held by the agency
- Negotiate equipment renewals and purchases within allowable limits
- Seek our least cost options that fulfill the needs of the agency through submission of quotes and Director approval within allocated budget;
- Ensure appropriate approvals are received
- Supervise and support the finance department, including hiring and disciplinary procedures
- Conduct annual performance evaluations
- Ensure adequate coverage during vacations, illness, etc.
- Act as back-up liaison with the contracted technical support team, reporting all problems and following through to resolution;
- Ensure all office equipment is functioning properly and replaced as needed;
- Evaluate and monitor the financial procedures of the agency and make recommendations regarding possible improvements;
- Develop and revise administration policies
- Review and approve all cheques within authority, arrange signature stamp and ensure stamp is always secured
- Arrange for the timely signing of cheques which exceed your authority;
- Complete semi-annual HST report;
- Ensure timely completion of the annual charity return
- Work with and maintain a positive relationship with external auditors
General Duties · Reports directly to the Executive Director, while supervising the finance department
· Maintain privacy and confidentiality
· Attend team meetings
· Adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its associated regulations
· Complete mandatory annual online training courses
· Must have access to a reliable vehicle and ability to travel within Grey and Bruce

Competencies & Qualifications
- Five plus years of advanced accounting experience in a mid to large size organization
- Accounting degree or working toward a final designation with experience in an advanced accounting position
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Expert knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office, Google Docs
- Expert Knowledge in industry specific accounting software
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience preparing detailed multi-program budgets
- Minimum of 5 years’ staff supervisory experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage a busy multi-site automated office environment
Compensation & Total Rewards · Hourly wage starting at $41.79/hour, but flexibility is available for the right experience and qualifications
· 72.5 hours biweekly, Mondays to Fridays
· Vacation starts at 3 weeks annually, prorated for the year
· Paid Time Off offered is 10 days annually, prorated for the year
· Benefits, including dental and paramedical; family advantages available as well
· TFSA/RRSP matching up to 5% annually
