Position: Cook, part-time
Location: CAA Centre, Brampton
Department: Food & Beverage
Availability: Must be available evenings and weekends The CAA Centre is a multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility that hosts sporting events, tournaments, concerts, community events, and other special functions. Restaurant Cooks play an significant role in delivering a positive guest experience by providing safe, consistent, and high-quality food service in a fast-paced event environment.
The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and committed to food quality, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to established recipes, portion sizes, presentation standards, and food quality expectations.
- Set up and maintain assigned kitchen stations before, during, and after service.
- Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, portioning, measuring, and organizing food items as required.
- Ensure food is prepared and served safely and at the appropriate temperature.
- Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing food and kitchen supplies.
- Maintain clean and sanitary workstations, equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas.
- Safely operate kitchen equipment, including grills, fryers, ovens, stovetops, slicers,
and other food preparation equipment.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen, restaurant, concession, and other Food & Beverage staff during busy events.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working as a cook, line cook, prep cook, or in a similar food service position is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic food preparation, cooking techniques, food safety, and sanitation practices.
- Ability to follow recipes, portion guidelines, and verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work efficiently and remain organized during high-volume service periods.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule based on event requirements, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a shift.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull kitchen supplies and equipment weighing up to approximately 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to bend, reach, crouch, and perform repetitive movements.
- Ability to work in a kitchen environment that may include heat, steam, noise, cold storage areas, and wet or slippery surfaces.
- Ability to safely handle kitchen equipment, utensils, and hot food items.
Pay: $17.60 per hour
