Your Opportunity

Knollcrest Lodge is seeking to hire a Permanent Part-Time Cook (15 hours/week) to join our Dietary Department. In addition to the Cook’s regular part-time hours, there may be opportunities to pick up additional shifts as a Dietary Aide.

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about serving our residents and who have knowledge and understanding of dietary services within a Long-Term Care environment.

As a member of the Knollcrest Food Services team, the Cook will prepare and serve safe, nutritious, and high-quality meals for residents in accordance with established menus, standardized recipes, policies, procedures, and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and serve food in accordance with established menus, standardized recipes, resident dietary requirements, and sanitation and safety regulations.
- Complete complex meal preparation as required.
- Support sound nutritional practices and applicable dietary standards.
- Assist with the direction and training of staff working in food preparation areas.
- Ensure food preparation areas and equipment are used and maintained safely.
- Recommend changes to menus, standardized recipes, and meal forecasts based on plate returns and resident feedback.




- Document menu substitutions made in the absence of the Nutrition Manager.
- Follow all applicable Knollcrest policies, procedures, and food safety requirements.

Qualifications The successful candidate will have:

- Successful completion of a recognized Food Handler Training Program and a current Food Handler Certificate.
- Relevant training or hands-on experience in food preparation, preferably gained as a Cook or Dietary Aide in a Long-Term Care, health care, institutional, restaurant, or hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, special diets, and protected food preparation practices.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a resident-focused team.
- A commitment to providing dependable, compassionate, and high-quality service.
