Thai Basil Restaurant (Broadway) is seeking an experienced, diligent, and hands-on Cook to be part of our culinary team. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate cook who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering exceptional Thai cuisine.

As a Cook, you will oversee most of the kitchen operations and work closely with management to ensure an outstanding guest experience.

Position Type

- Full-time (40 hours a week)

Working Hours Shifts vary based on operational needs and include mornings, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.

Salary: 24 CAD an hour.

Key Responsibilities

- Ensure every dish meets Thai Basil's quality, presentation, and consistency standards.
- Monitor food quality throughout service and provide coaching when needed.

Kitchen Operations
- Manage food preparation, production schedules, and service flow.
- Develop effective kitchen procedures to maximize productivity.
- Control food costs, portioning, waste, and inventory levels.

Food Safety & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness and organization at all times.

Qualifications/Experience
- Minimum 2 years of kitchen experience in a Thai Food restaurant.




- Experience with inventory management, food costing, and labour scheduling.

Skills & Abilities
- Solid knowledge of Thai culinary techniques and ingredients (mastering flavors, knife cutting, heat management, and others).
- Able to cook a variety of traditional and authentic Thai Meals, including (but not limited to) Pad Khing, Pad Ped, Pad Mee, Pad Kee Mao, Pad See-Ew, Pad Prik Khing.
- Experienced using the Wok to create the smoky, charred aroma, at the right temperature, as well as keeping vegetables crispy.
- Ability to prepare jasmine rice and sticky rice using Thai steaming methods.
