Corporate Controller — Drive the Numbers. Drive the Business.
CA$120,000–CA$150,000 per year
Most Corporate Controllers are hired to tell the business what happened.
At Parkwood, we need someone who can help determine what happens next.
Parkwood is a fast-moving home builder with an unusual advantage: we can sell a home approximately 9 months before possession. That gives us significant visibility into future revenue, costs, margins, construction activity and cash.
We need a Corporate Controller who can turn that visibility into expectations, forecasts and action.
This is not a role focused on closing the books and explaining variances 30 days after month-end. We want someone who can establish meaningful expectations, forecast where the business is heading, identify when reality begins moving away from those expectations and give leadership the information needed to influence the outcome.
The person we're looking for
You are a fixer, thinker and doer.
You're highly analytical, naturally curious and uncomfortable with unexplained numbers. You dig deeper, challenge assumptions and look for root causes rather than simply explaining symptoms.
You want the books balanced to the penny. Not because every penny is material, but because precision matters and small discrepancies can expose much larger problems.
You don't hide behind materiality. You don't accept "that's how we've always done it." When you find a broken process, you take ownership of fixing it.
You also think differently about technology. You're genuinely comfortable with AI and automation and actively look for ways to use tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Power BI and Power Automate to make finance faster, more accurate and more useful.
As part of the application process please complete the following survey to help us get to know you better:

What you'll do
Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting, you will own general and cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting and the financial information behind our active builds.

This is a hands-on role. We need someone who is comfortable getting into the numbers, understanding the systems and solving problems personally when necessary.

- CPA designation
- 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards
- Significant budgeting, forecasting and cost accounting experience

- Power BI, Power Automate or similar automation experience
- Experience improving or building accounting processes and controls
More important than checking every box is a history of making things better.
What success looks like
Reporting is timely, accurate and trusted. Job costing reflects reality. Forecasts provide a credible view of where the business is heading. Problems are identified earlier. Manual work is disappearing. Leadership has a clear understanding of the company's financial trajectory and can make decisions before problems become expensive.
We don't need someone to maintain the status quo. We need someone who wants to make the business substantially better.
