About Us

The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of seven Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Communication Sciences and Disorders. and Food and Nutritional Sciences), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centers. The Faculty has more than 4,000 undergraduate students and more than 900 graduate students (200 PhD students). The School of Health Studies is a diverse community of students and professors committed to improving human health around the globe. The mission of the School is to nurture the creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking of tomorrow’s global leaders, through transformative interdisciplinary research, education, and knowledge mobilization. Delivering a primarily undergraduate program, the School of Health Studies focuses on streams of studies including Health Sciences, Health and Aging, Health Promotion, Biology, and Rehabilitation Sciences.

Course Information

HS 4205A Health Promotion in Practice (0.5) Course Description: This practical and hands-on course will develop your conceptual and applied understanding of elements necessary for planning, designing, and conducting community health promotion program evaluations. The course culminates in an opportunity to participate in program evaluation efforts with a community partner. Extra Information: 3 lecture hours.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for all activities associated with the successful delivery of the course, including but not limited to: developing, preparing, and delivering the course; setting and marking examinations, assessing the academic work of students, and reporting grades. Candidates must be willing to undertake training as required by the Employer including, but not limited to, training in respect of health and safety, harassment and discrimination, and legislated service standards.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant discipline (or be close to completion) and a demonstrated record of high performance and expertise teaching at the university-level the specific subject area of any course for which they apply. Preference will be given to experience in teaching or researching in the specific subject area of the course applied for.
