Canada

Terfuu is a Quebec-based performance marketing agency managing paid media, creative production, UGC, and funnel infrastructure for brands across North America. We run performance creative for brands in home improvement, furniture, cycling, wellness, and services, in both English and Quebec French markets. We're scaling our creative engine and hiring one DR Creative Strategist to own creative strategy across multiple client accounts.

You'll develop the angles and concepts we test, write the copy yourself, brief our editors and creators, and use performance data to decide what gets made next, per account.

This is not an order-taker role. We're looking for someone who can look at a client's customer, market, data, and existing winners, and tell us where the creative should go next.

The Role

Build a repeatable creative engine that produces profitable, scalable direct-response winners across multiple client accounts, each with a distinct positioning competitors can't easily copy. You're not sitting above the work handing briefs to writers. You are the writer. You'll research customers, find angles, develop concepts, write scripts and funnel copy, direct production, analyze performance, and turn what you learn into the next testing cycle.

Initial expectation: roughly 15 to 20 concepts per week across accounts. We care far more about hit rate and profitable spend than arbitrary volume.

Responsibilities

- Own acquisition-side positioning and messaging per client , translating customer desires, problems, unique mechanisms, and market awareness levels into compelling DR messaging.
- Develop net-recent angles and concepts from customer research. Every concept anchored to real Voice of Customer data. No invented claims.
- Write elite direct-response copy yourself : UGC scripts, creator/talking-head concepts, hooks, statics, advertorials, listicles, landing pages, and supporting funnel copy.
- Produce 15 to 20 high-quality concepts per week across accounts, with archetype diversity per batch (pain agitation, social proof, education, identity, offer) rather than monoculture variations.
- Own our core creative formats , particularly UGC and creator-style talking-head video, while knowing when to deploy skits, statics, natives, and other formats per platform.

- Brief editors, designers, and creators with clear angles, hooks, and standards so output is intentional and strategically useful, not duplicated noise.
- Think full-funnel : ensure ad, landing page, offer, and customer journey reinforce the same promise per client.
- Read creative performance data (hook rates, CTR, CPA, ROAS and more) and translate it into kill/iterate/scale decisions, including hook refreshes and visual refreshes before full kills.
- Help define how the creative pipeline operates : briefs, testing methodology, quality standards, and feedback loops.

This is ownership of creative performance across a portfolio, not ownership of a content calendar.

What success looks like

- Your concepts consistently achieve a strong hit rate and contribute to profitable growth on every account.
- Every concept is built around a clear hypothesis, a target awareness level, and a VOC anchor, not volume for volume's sake.
- Hit rate improves as customer and performance insights compound per client.
- We produce genuinely new angles, not endless variations of last month's winner.
- Competitive research is used to improve, not replicate.
- Editor and creator output follows explicit strategic direction.
- Ad → page → offer messaging feels like one coherent funnel per client.
- The founder and paid media lead trust you to own creative direction without prescribing what gets made.

Required Experience Senior individual-contributor role. You've already built winners and understand what happens after an ad starts taking real spend.

- Elite direct-response copywriting ability. You personally write copy that converts. "I brief writers" is not enough.
- A portfolio of proven winners. Ads you personally wrote or developed that took meaningful spend, and you can explain exactly why they worked.
- Experience with scaled DTC or agency accounts.

You understand the creative demands of meaningful monthly spend.
- Strong positioning instincts. You think in desires, unique mechanisms, awareness levels, and market sophistication, not demographic profiles.
- The ability to create net-new concepts from research, not just iterations of existing winners.
- A full-stack DR brain. An ad cannot be separated from the page, offer, and conversion experience that follows it.
- Strong performance literacy. Hook rates, CPA, ROAS, spend, conversion rate, and creative longevity drive your decisions.
- AI-native workflows. You use AI tools as genuine leverage for research, avatar development, synthesis, and iteration. Context-first, not prompt-and-pray.
- Native-level written English and French for a North American consumer audience.
- High coachability. Strong critique makes the next version better, not a defense of the old one.

Compensation & Benefits

- Competitive salary based on experience and location.
- Performance bonus tied to the winners you create.
- Remote, worldwide. Meaningful overlap with EST working hours required.
- Genuine growth path toward Creative Director as the creative team scales.

Who thrives here

- You want real ownership rather than a queue of creative requests.
- You're a writer at heart but think strategically about markets and positioning.
- You get excited by finding the customer insight everyone else missed.
- You want your work judged by what happened in the ad account, not whether everyone liked the concept.
- You can turn ugly customer language into sharp, high-converting creative.
- You move quickly without needing a polished machine around you.
- You can take aggressive feedback, separate yourself from the work, and produce a better version.

Who will struggle

- You want a conventional corporate 9-to-5.
- You need a large team and polished processes before you can operate.
- You're a brand-first creative who dislikes being accountable to CPA, ROAS, and revenue.
- You're a strategist who delegates the actual writing.
- You're a writer who doesn't understand positioning.
- You mainly iterate existing winners rather than generating original concepts.

Applications without a portfolio won't be reviewed.
