Please Note:
- This is a temporary bilingual (English/French) part-time position working 20 hours per week with the possibility of additional hours where operationally required.
About the job
As part of the team, you will help deliver front-line customer service in person, virtually, and by phone by providing accurate information and support for a range of government programs and services. Work is varied and customer-focused, with each interaction offering the opportunity to help members of the public navigate significant services. In this role, you can expect to:
- provide customer service by delivering timely and accurate information about government programs, products, and services.
- provide information about government services
- process applications and renewals
- collect payments and issue receipts
- resolve customer inquiries
- stay current on policies and procedures
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
- You must possess oral French language skills at the advanced level, and your proficiency level will be confirmed before hire.
Customer service and communication skills:
You have experience with:
- providing in-person customer service in a high-volume environment
- listening, asking questions, and giving clear, helpful information
- handling complaints and resolving customer issues
- writing clearly and accurately when preparing correspondence
Problem solving and analytical skills:
You have the ability to:
- gather and assess information to understand customer needs
- analyze situations and decide on the right course of action
- use judgement, tact, and discretion when working with the public
Technical and administrative skills:
You can:
- apply information about government programs and services (municipal, provincial, and federal) to support customers
- research and interpret policies, procedures, and legislation to complete transactions accurately
- use common office software (word processing, spreadsheets, email) and databases
- use computer systems and online tools to find, review, and summarize information
- handle cash and process payments using cash registers or point-of-sale systems
Collaboration and organizational skills:
You can:
- work effectively in a team environment
- share ideas and consider different perspectives
- plan and organize your workload to meet deadlines
- maintain accuracy while managing competing priorities
