We are an industry-leading manufacturer and supplier of aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel products serving the infrastructure and construction industries since 1980. Specializing in railings, sign structures, and custom fabricated metal products, we are continuing to grow and are seeking a skilled and motivated Miscellaneous Metals Detailer / Drafter to join our team.

The successful candidate will be a highly organized, detail-oriented team player capable of managing multiple projects while working closely with project managers, estimators, production staff, and clients.

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT A valid G-Class Driver's Licence with a clean driving record is mandatory for this position.

This role requires regular travel to project sites to perform field measurements, attend meetings, and verify site conditions.

Applicants selected for an interview will be required to provide a current Driver's Abstract.

Applicants who do not possess a valid driver's licence, clean driving record, and reliable transportation will not be considered.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Miscellaneous Metals Detailer / Drafter will be responsible for producing detailed shop drawings, fabrication packages, material take-offs, and coordinating drawing approvals for custom steel, aluminum, and stainless steel projects.

This position includes both office and field responsibilities.

ResponsibilitiesDrafting & Detailing

- Review and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
- Create detailed shop drawings using AutoCAD.
- Review IFC (Issued for Construction)



drawings and establish miscellaneous metals detailing requirements.
- Develop fabrication drawings, cutting lists, material lists, and packing lists.
- Coordinate drawing revisions and maintain revision records.
- Prepare layouts and detailing for miscellaneous metals projects.

Project Coordination
- Prepare and submit RFIs (Requests for Information).
- Coordinate drawing submissions and approvals.
- Submit drawings to outside engineers and consultants for review.
- Organize and maintain drawing logs and project documentation.
- Assist in maintaining project schedules and drawing priorities.

Field & Site Work
- Visit job sites to obtain measurements and verify field conditions.
- Attend site meetings as required.
- Identify discrepancies between site conditions and contract drawings.
- Communicate findings to project management and customers.

Team Support
- Work closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Production Managers, Purchasing, and Fabrication personnel.
- Assist with inventory and stock counts when required.
- Support production by providing accurate and timely fabrication drawings.

QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 5 years of AutoCAD drafting/detailing experience.
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.




- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of metric and imperial measurement systems.
- Comfortable working in office, shop, and construction site environments.
- Willingness to complete required safety training.

Mandatory Driver Requirements
- Valid G-Class Driver's Licence.
- Clean Driver's Abstract.
- Ability to operate a personal vehicle for site visits.
- Ability to travel to various project sites throughout Ontario.
