We are seeking a dedicated Dietary Aide to join our team at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Tillsonburg ON. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring our residents receive nutritious meals tailored to their dietary needs. Your contributions will directly support our mission of providing exceptional care and enhancing the quality of life for our residents.

THE SHIFT

- Part time shift: 11am to 7pm and offers 7 shifts (21 hours) bi-weekly with additional hours available through call-in procedure
- This is to cover a Maternity Leave (12 months minimum)

WHAT WE OFFER

- Starting rate of pay is $22.02 then moves to $23.80 after 3 months!

RESPONSIBILITIES

Meal Preparation and Service

- Working alongside the Cook, you will prepare a variety of food according to guidelines and standardized recipes
- Follow residents' diets and food preferences and follow specific meal plans
- Collect and transport supplies required for unit meal and nourishment service
- Take the menu orders from the residents

Meal Delivery

- Pour residents’ drinks according to their fluid type
- Retrieve residents’ orders from the tablets
- Plate meals according to residents’ choice and diet texture
- Deliver meals to residents, assist with cutting if needed
- Deliver desserts

Tray Assembly and Delivery (when residents are on tray service)

- Organizing meal trays, verifying patient identification, and ensuring correct meals are delivered to residents
- Set up nourishment carts

Sanitation and Maintenance

- Set and clear tables in the dining rooms and ensure they are sanitized
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
- Maintain food at proper serving temperature




- Safely operate a variety of equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, knives, mixers, dishwasher
- Conform to Public Health Standards and Legislative standards regarding food handling, storage and personal hygiene
- All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

- Must have a Food Handler’s Certificate
- Must have institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality experience
- Previous experience in assisted living or nursing home settings is preferred
- Preference will be given to those applicants that hold a Food Service Worker Certificate
- Previous experience in food preparation and ware washing
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices

SKILLS

- Must have a sincere interest in people, the elderly in particular, and possess a genuine sensitivity to their needs
- Must be able to effectively handle the physical aspects of the position including, but not limited to the ability to bend, stand, lift, withstand various range of temperatures and have hands in water and have the ability to work safely by following established safety practices and procedures
- Able to multi-task and complete required routines within assigned schedules
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable within a team environment
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written in English)
