JOB SUMMARY The Director of Operations, Specialty Nursing reporting to the National Director, Specialty Programs and Clinical Operations, is accountable for the strategic leadership, operational performance, and governance of clinical operations across Bayshore Specialty Rx, including national infusion clinic and home specialty nursing services, while enabling business development, RFP support, and strategic growth initiatives. The Director of Operations, Specialty Nursing provides enterprise-level direction and leadership to Regional Operations Managers and Specialty Rx nurse leaders, ensuring leaders are accountable to deliver consistent, high-quality, compliant services across the Canadian regions supported by Bayshore Specialty Rx. As a member of the BSRx leadership team, the Director of Operations, Specialty Nursing drives alignment with the National Director, BSRx Directors, and cross-functional partners to advance operational strategy, quality and risk governance, financial performance, clinical KPI achievement, business development priorities, RFP submissions, pricing inputs, and client-facing presentations.
The role works in conjunction with the Clinical, Quality, Health Information and Privacy team on clinical policies, procedures, and escalations, and proactively partners with the Director of Quality and Risk to prevent and reduce risk while resolving corrective and preventive actions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides strategic direction and divisional oversight for Specialty Rx clinical operations, leading Regional Operations Managers and Specialty Nursing management team to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality patient care, operational excellence, workforce effectiveness, and achievement of divisional objectives across all regions.
- Partners with leaders across Specialty Rx and corporate functions, including Patient Support Services, Pharmacy, Distribution, Facilities, Business Development, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, and other key stakeholders, to align operational priorities, drive strategic initiatives, and support divisional growth.
- Provides strategic oversight for the financial, workforce, and operational planning of Specialty Rx Nursing Services, leveraging short and long term forecasting to anticipate divisional growth, new business opportunities, program changes, and service delivery risks.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders to proactively assess future resource requirements, workforce capacity, and operational impacts, ensuring the division remains positioned to support growth, maintain service excellence, and deliver on client commitments.
- Accountable for optimizing labour utilization, operational efficiency, and financial performance while ensuring achievement of contractual obligations and key performance metrics.
- Partners with FP&A; to oversee monthly and quarterly financial reporting, present performance insights to senior leadership as required, and recommend actions to improve financial and operational outcomes.
- Translates organizational strategy into actionable clinical operations priorities and ensures Regional Operations Managers and Specialty Nursing management team are aligned, equipped, and supported to successfully execute strategic initiatives and achieve operational objectives.
- Sponsors employee engagement priorities within clinical operations and ensures leaders implement actions that strengthen engagement, retention, and team effectiveness.
- Provides leadership oversight for audit readiness, compliance activities, and remediation planning related to clinical operations.
- Leads change management initiatives that support operational transformation, standardization, and continuous improvement.
- Ensures national staffing contingency strategies are in place for clinic and home nursing services across Canada in collaboration with regional leaders and the local branch network.
- Ensures Regional Operations Managers and Specialty Rx nurse leaders have the structure, resources, and support required to manage evolving operational and clinical needs in their regions.
- Provides senior clinical operations expertise to business development, including product reviews, RFP feedback and responses, pricing consultation for nursing services, and representation of the clinical operations business unit during client meetings and sales presentations.
- Serves as the senior escalation point for nursing matters, exercising judgment on risk, quality, operational, and client impacts and escalating to the National Director, Specialty Programs and Clinical Operations, as appropriate.
- Provides leadership oversight in partnership with the Clinical, Quality, Health Information and Privacy team on clinical policies, procedures, and escalations, and with the Director of Quality and Risk to proactively prevent and reduce risk, support investigations, and resolve and close corrective and preventive actions.
- Oversees the development and implementation of tools and governance processes to enhance KPI tracking, monitor performance against targets, and drive timely action plans when KPIs are not achieved.• Sets performance expectations for leaders and sponsors employee growth through coaching, succession-oriented development, performance management, and leadership support.
- Champions, in collaboration with the National Director, Bayshore’s team culture of quality, compassion, reliability, teamwork, innovation, leadership, and personal growth through visible, proactive leadership.
- Provides leadership input into clinic network strategy, including opening and closing clinic sites, lease renewal reviews, and medical advisor renewals.
- Provides leadership direction for talent management activities within clinical operations, including recruitment, selection, orientation, education, performance reviews, and employee development through the Specialty Rx nurse management team.
- Develops and maintains senior-level communication and engagement channels to support collaboration between Program Managers, Branch Area Directors, Specialty Nursing leaders, local sales teams, and other key stakeholders.
- Monitors emerging healthcare, market, regulatory, workforce, and industry trends that may impact service delivery, operational performance, or business growth, and proactively develops and implements mitigation strategies, contingency plans,
and operational responses to ensure continuity of service and minimize business disruption.
- Develops and implements future state operational strategies that support business growth, workforce scalability, and service excellence.
- Champions automation, digital transformation, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce administrative burden, and ensure the department remains positioned to meet evolving divisional and market demands.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the applicable provincial college of nursing required.
- Master’s degree in nursing, health administration, business administration, or a related field preferred.
- Formal leadership, management, quality improvement, or project management training considered an asset.
Experience
- Minimum seven years of progressive leadership experience in clinical operations, nursing operations, specialty pharmacy, patient support programs, community infusion, outpatient clinic operations, or a related healthcare environment.
- Minimum ten years of nursing experience, including experience in acute care, oncology, neurology, critical care, community infusion, outpatient clinics, specialty nursing, or other complex clinical service environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading leaders and managing multi-site, regional, or national clinical operations teams.• Experience with financial stewardship, budget planning, forecasting, operational reporting, KPI governance, and performance improvement.
- Experience working with quality, risk, privacy, clinical governance, audits, investigations, and corrective and preventive action processes.
- Experience supporting business development, RFP responses, client presentations, pricing inputs, implementation planning, or growth initiatives considered an asset.
- Experience or strong working knowledge of the Canadian pharmaceutical, specialty pharmacy, or patient support program industry considered an asset.

- Highly organized, solutions-oriented, and able to prioritize competing demands in a national, multi-stakeholder environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Willing and able to travel across Canada as required.
