THE OPPORTUNITY

Xatśūll First Nation is committed to supporting the health, well-being, and development of young children through opportunities for learning, cultural connection, play, and community. We are seeking a caring, energetic, and community-focused Early Childhood Educator (ECE) who is passionate about creating positive and meaningful experiences for children and their families.

Reporting to the Daycare Manager, the Early Childhood Educator works collaboratively as part of the Day Care team to develop, deliver, and evaluate a play-based program that supports the individual needs, interests, and development of children. The ECE helps create a protected, healthy, inclusive, and culturally rich environment where children can learn, explore, build confidence, and develop positive relationships. The ECE participates in all aspects of the Day Care program, including indoor and land-based learning experiences, cultural activities, daily routines, and opportunities that support children’s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. The ECE also works to ensure that programs and practices meet or exceed licensing requirements and reporting standards while reflecting the values, culture, and community of Xatśūll First Nation.

POSITION DETAILS

This is a Casual On-Call position, with a wage range of $25.61–$30.73 per hour.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are a good fit for this opportunity if you possess the following qualifications and experience:

- Valid ECE Certificate and Certificate to Practice.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a licensed childcare or daycare setting.
- Knowledge of child growth and development and experience supporting children’s physical, emotional, social, and cultural well-being.




- Experience developing and delivering play-based and responsive early learning programs.
- Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining professional boundaries and ethical standards.
- Experience with observation, documentation, assessment, planning, and implementation is an asset.
- Knowledge of Aboriginal Head Start, Indigenous culture, and land-based learning is an asset.
- Valid Standard First Aid/CPR and FoodSafe certificates.
- Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence is an asset.
- Up-to-date immunization records and tuberculosis screening.
- Satisfactory criminal record check (vulnerable sector).
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft 365 are an asset.
