We are looking for an instructor who is patient, approachable, communicative, and genuinely invested in student success.

Position Overview

Dalwin College is seeking a knowledgeable and supportive Education Assistant Instructor to deliver synchronous instruction in a hybrid learning environment. Classes may be taught virtually and in person at our Markham campus, depending on the program schedule.

The successful candidate will have relevant professional experience supporting children and youth in educational or community settings, along with the ability to connect theory to practical classroom situations. The instructor must be able to explain concepts clearly, model professional and inclusive practices, monitor student progress, and prepare students to support learners with diverse academic, behavioural, developmental, physical, and emotional needs.

This role requires someone who communicates clearly and consistently, collaborates well with colleagues, and can also work independently with strong initiative and sound judgment.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver engaging, interactive instructor-led accounting classes in synchronous virtual and in-person formats.
- Teach course content in accordance with the approved Education Assistant program curriculum and schedule.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, demonstrations, activities, and assessments.
- Connect theoretical concepts to realistic classroom and workplace situations.
- Teach students how to support children and youth with diverse learning, behavioural, developmental, physical, and emotional needs.
- Promote inclusive, respectful, safe, and student-centred educational practices.
- Prepare students for the professional expectations and responsibilities of working in schools and related settings.
- Explain course content clearly and adapt instructional approaches to accommodate different learning needs.
- Provide students with appropriate academic guidance, encouragement, and support.
- Monitor attendance, participation, academic progress, and assignment completion.
- Grade assignments and assessments accurately and provide timely,



constructive feedback.
- Maintain complete and up-to-date attendance, grade, and student progress records.
- Identify students who may be struggling and communicate concerns promptly to the appropriate college staff.
- Support students in preparing for and successfully completing their practicum or field-placement requirements.
- Communicate and collaborate with placement staff when student concerns or support needs arise.
- Respond to student and administrative communications in a clear, professional, and timely manner.
- Collaborate closely with academic, administrative, and student-support team members.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, program reviews, and other college activities as required.
- Follow all college policies, academic requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Remain current with inclusive education practices, accessibility approaches, and expectations within educational settings.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in an elementary, secondary, special-education, or other appropriate educational setting.
- Minimum of one year of qualified teaching experience, preferably with adult learners.
- Strong knowledge of inclusive education and strategies for supporting learners with diverse needs.
- Understanding of child and adolescent development, classroom support, behaviour management, professional boundaries, and student safety.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to explain concepts clearly, patiently, and practically.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proactive, resourceful, dependable, and adaptable approach to work.
- Comfortable using digital learning platforms, video-conferencing tools, and standard office software.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

- Ontario teaching certification or another relevant skilled certification.
- Experience working as an Education Assistant, Educational Assistant, teacher, special-education professional, behavioural support worker, or in a closely related role.
- Experience supporting students with exceptionalities, disabilities, behavioural needs, or individualized education plans.




- Experience teaching in a private career college, postsecondary institution, or adult-education setting.
- Experience teaching synchronous online or hybrid courses.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or evaluating students during field placements.
- Experience supporting newcomers to Canada, English-language learners, or students requiring additional academic guidance.
- Familiarity with learning management systems and online assessment tools.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Ontario school environments and applicable educational standards is considered an asset.

- Consistent and detail-oriented in grading, attendance tracking, documentation, and communication.

Hybrid and Virtual Teaching Requirements As this is a hybrid position involving synchronous instruction, the successful candidate must:

- Be available to teach live classes according to the assigned schedule.
- Be able to attend the Markham campus when in-person instruction or meetings are required.
- Have a reliable computer, high-speed internet connection, webcam, microphone, and quiet professional workspace for virtual teaching.
- Be confident engaging students and managing participation in an online classroom.
- Be comfortable learning and using Dalwin College’s virtual classroom and learning-management systems.
