Company Description Photon‑IV is a Canadian technology company specializing in intelligent connectivity between Non‑Terrestrial Networks (NTN) and Terrestrial Networks (TN) for defense, aerospace, and advanced communications applications. The team integrates wireless engineering with AI/ML to enable seamless handover between LEO satellites and ground networks.

This approach reduces latency, minimizes communication dropouts, and strengthens mission resilience in demanding environments. Photon‑IV offers opportunities to work on cutting‑edge RF and embedded systems that directly impact critical and future‑focused communication infrastructures.

**Role Description The Embedded RF Engineer is a full time, hybrid role based in Canada, with a mix of on-site and work-from-home flexibility. In this role, the engineer designs, implements, and tests embedded RF systems that enable reliable communication between satellite and terrestrial networks. Day-to-day work includes developing and integrating RF hardware and firmware, performing simulation and lab characterization, debugging signal integrity and performance issues, and optimizing designs for low latency and high reliability.

The engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams in wireless systems, software, and AI/ML to validate system performance, contribute to architecture decisions, and support field deployments and customer-facing technical reviews. The role also involves documenting designs,

adhering to industry and defense standards, and contributing to continuous improvement of engineering processes a nd tools. Qualifications

- Robust RF engineering skills, including RF circuit design, antenna fundamentals, and experience with satellite or wireless communication systems.
- Embedded systems expertise, including microcontroller or SoC-based design, firmware development in C/C++, and real-time operating systems.
- Hands-on experience with RF test and measurement, such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, and lab automation tools.
- Knowledge of communication protocols and standards (e.g., LTE/5G, GNSS, satellite communication links) and familiarity with link budget and system-level performance analysis.
- Proficiency with simulation and design tools (e.g., RF/microwave CAD, circuit simulators, PCB design tools) and experience with hardware bring-up and debugging.
- Ability to write clear technical documentation, collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, and communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in defense, aerospace, or mission-critical communications environments is an asset; familiarity with AI/ML applications in wireless systems is a plus.**
