About the Role The Emergency Call Taker is responsible for answering emergency and non-emergency calls, as well as 911 calls. The position is accountable for entering calls for service on Computer Aided Dispatch systems in response to information obtained from members of the public and allied agencies.

Members of the Emergency Call Taker Pool at the Niagara Regional Police Service provide coverage for full-time Emergency Call Taker during periods of temporary absence or to provide support during peak periods. Emergency Call Taker must be available to work 12-hour shifts including over nights, weekends, and holidays. Hours and continuity of work may vary based on operational needs.

Qualifications

- Minimum of a Secondary School Diploma plus completion of up to one year of post-secondary courses (e.g., software).
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience (e.g., policing, customer service).

Required Skills

- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work and remain calm under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Typing skills (45 wpm) minimum is required.

Salary: $44.55/hr
