About NENAS

North East Native Advancing Society (NENAS) is a non-profit, Indigenous-led organization with over 35 years of experience providing employment, education, training, and community-based programs throughout Northeastern British Columbia.

About the Position

NENAS is looking for a friendly, organized, and client-focused individual to join our Employment Assistance Services team.

The Employment Assistance Services Advisor position provides one-on-one support to clients as they work toward their employment, education, and career goals. The successful candidate will assist clients in identifying their goals and barriers, developing action plans, accessing employment and training resources, and connecting with community services.

The position also provides front-end coverage when required, including welcoming clients and visitors, answering and directing phone calls, and responding to general inquiries.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide solution-focused employment and post-secondary education assistance to clients.
- Meet with clients to discuss employment history, educational background, career interests, and goals.
- Complete client intakes, assessments, action plans, case notes, evaluations, and other required documentation.
- Identify barriers to employment and assist clients with developing strategies to overcome those barriers.
- Provide one-on-one support with job readiness, job searches, resume development, interview preparation, and maintaining employment.
- Assist clients with accessing education, training, safety tickets, PPE, employment resources, and other available supports.




- Provide information regarding employment, education, training, labour market opportunities, and community resources.
- Compile and maintain current career, labour market, and employment-readiness resources.
- Assist clients with forms, applications, appointments, and program-related questions.
- Refer and connect clients with appropriate community, employment, education, and support services.
- Maintain confidential client files and ensure documentation is complete and up to date.
- Enter and maintain accurate client information in the Accountability and Resource Management System (ARMS) and other required databases.
- Provide welcoming front-end service when required, including answering and directing telephone calls and assisting clients and visitors.
- Participate in job fairs, employment events, and outreach activities in Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, and local First Nation communities.
- Work collaboratively with the NENAS team to support client success and effective program delivery.
- Travel may be required to NENAS offices and local First Nation communities.

Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in employment counselling, case management,



client services, or a related field.
- Post-secondary education or a qualification in Career Development, Career Counselling, Counselling, Social Services, or a related field is an asset.
- CCDP certification is an asset.
- A combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Robust written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service and client-centred service skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- ARMS experience is an asset.
- Knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture and communities is an asset.
- Experience working with Elders and/or Indigenous communities is an asset.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to achieving program goals and providing quality client service.

Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's licence.
- A Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, will be required upon hire.
- Occasional travel may be required to Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, and local First Nation communities.
