We are looking for an experienced mainline excavator operator who has spent significant time working in deep underground utility construction installing municipal water, sanitary and storm systems.

If your experience is primarily roadbuilding, site prep, bulk excavation, landscaping, loading trucks or shallow services, this position will not be the right fit.

We need an operator who can get into an excavator on a mainline crew and confidently work alongside an experienced foreman and pipelayer without needing to be taught underground utility excavation.

What You'll Be Doing

- Excavating deep trenches for water, sanitary and storm mainline installation
- Digging safely and accurately around existing live utilities
- Maintaining line, grade and trench dimensions during pipe installation
- Excavating for manholes, tie-ins, structures and service connections
- Working with trench boxes, shoring and other excavation protection systems
- Bedding, placing pipe and backfilling alongside the pipe crew
- Performing precision excavation around existing infrastructure
- Operating excavators of various sizes based on site conditions
- Operating loaders and backhoes as required
- Working closely with the foreman and pipelayer to maintain safe, efficient production

We are specifically looking for candidates with:
- 5+ years of heavy equipment operating experience in civil construction
- Strong, recent experience operating excavators on underground utility/mainline crews
- Proven experience installing water, sanitary and storm mains
- Experience with deep excavation and trenching
- Experience working with trench boxes and/or shoring systems
- Ability to dig to line and grade
- Experience excavating around live utilities
- Ability to read grades, elevations and basic civil drawings
- Strong understanding of safe excavation practices
- Valid BC driver's license and acceptable driver's abstract

Our projects are located throughout the Lower Mainland, including Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Surrey and Delta. Applicants must be able to reliably commute to different project locations. Pay: $42.00-$50.00 per hour
