Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Facilitator of Applied Learning to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in building life skills, independence, self-advocacy, and community connections. Through classroom, community-based, and experiential learning, you will help participants achieve their personal goals and thrive in adult life.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individual and group instruction in independent living skills, including:
- Personal care, health, and wellness
- Meal planning and food preparation
- Household management and home safety
- Budgeting and financial literacy
- Time management and organization
- Public transportation and community navigation
- Communication, self-advocacy, and social skills
- Facilitate classroom, community, and experiential learning activities.
- Support access to community resources, services, volunteer opportunities, and adult support programs.
- Assist participants with applications for available government and community resources.
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans.
- Monitor progress, maintain documentation, and provide ongoing feedback.
- Promote participant safety, dignity, and independence.
- Collaborate with families, community partners, and program staff.
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous program improvement.
Qualifications
Required
- Post-secondary education in Social Services, Human Services, Education, Therapeutic Recreation, Developmental Services, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years' experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an educational or learning setting.
- Experience facilitating life skills, applied learning,
or transition-to-adulthood programming.
- Strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
- Current First Aid & CPR certification.
- Valid Class G Driver's Licence and reliable transportation.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
Preferred
- Experience as an Educational Assistant.
- Knowledge of developmental services and adult support systems.
- Experience with assistive technology and adaptive supports.
- Experience facilitating community integration and small-group learning.
