Position Title: Facilities worker - Hockey Arena & Sports Facilities

Department: Facilities

Reports to: Facilities Assistant Manager

Status: Full time - Evenings Wednesday-Sunday 3pm-12:00am

Date d’embauche: September 2026

Job Purpose - The primary focus is on the general upkeep of school infrastructure, supporting daily operations, and providing a clean, secure environment for students, staff, and public user groups. To maintain a safe, clean, and sports-ready workplace at the school's hockey arena and athletic facilities during the critical 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM evening shift. This role serves as the backbone of daily operations by managing the facility's highest-traffic window, transitioning the spaces from after-school student practices and physical education classes to external community rentals.

By resurfacing the ice, prepping locker rooms, and providing support to all internal and external users, this position ensures the venues are fully utilized, safely locked down by midnight, and perfectly reset for the next morning.

Responsibilities include:

- Inclusive Facility Preparation: Resurfacing ice, setting up athletic equipment,



and prepping spaces to meet the diverse needs of both internal school programs and external rental groups.
- Cleanliness & Sanitation: Disinfecting locker rooms, wiping down player benches, and clearing trash from spectator areas after all scheduled activities and events.
- Safety & Security: Conducting final nightly inspections, locking down the perimeter, and ensuring all internal users and external renters have safely vacated the premises by midnight.
- User Support: Serving as a welcoming and helpful evening point of contact for anyone utilizing the facilities, ensuring all groups respect property guidelines and have what they need.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent level of education.
- Fluent and fully bilingual in English and French to effectively communicate with our diverse internal school community and external rental groups.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in facility maintenance, janitorial operations, or recreational sports facility care.
- Prior experience operating a Zamboni or handling ice maintenance is strongly preferred (training will be provided to the ideal candidate)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during late-night hours while maintaining high attention to safety and security.
- Familiarity with working in a school environment is an asset.
- Driver’s license (standard) is an asset
