Lamothe Law is a growing and client-focused law firm based in Sudbury, Ontario. We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Family Lawyer to join our team and help us continue providing exceptional legal services to families throughout Northeastern Ontario.

About the Role The successful candidate will manage a diverse family law caseload and will work closely with experienced counsel in a cooperative and supportive environment. This role offers significant opportunities for professional growth, courtroom advocacy, and meaningful client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using tools such as LexisNexis to stay current on family law statutes, precedents, and regulations
- Draft clear, precise legal documents including pleadings, affidavits, and settlement agreements tailored to each client’s unique circumstances
- Negotiate effectively on behalf of clients to reach amicable resolutions or favorable settlements in family disputes
- Advise clients on their legal rights and options through detailed consultations and written communications
- Manage all aspects of case preparation, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and coordinating with experts when necessary
- Represent clients confidently in court proceedings, mediations, and settlement conferences
- Maintain meticulous case records and ensure compliance with all procedural requirements
Qualifications
Required
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario family law and the Family Law Rules.
- Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to manage files independently while working collaboratively within a team environment.
- Client-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience in family law and/or child protection matters.
- Experience appearing before Ontario courts.
- Mediation training or interest in alternative dispute resolution.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced practice.
Compensation is competitive and will be tailored to the successful candidate's experience and level of practice.
