Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Farrowing Technician to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for overseeing the care and management of sows during the farrowing process, ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient setting for both animals and staff. Duties

- Assist sows during the farrowing process, providing support to ensure safe delivery of piglets
- Monitor animal health and behavior, promptly identifying any signs of distress or complications
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of farrowing pens and surrounding areas to prevent disease
- Operate and perform routine maintenance on farm machinery and equipment used in daily tasks
- Handle heavy lifting of supplies, feed, and animals safely while following proper procedures
- Record detailed data on farrowing events, piglet counts, and health observations




- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow and animal welfare standards are met

Skills

- Strong mechanical knowledge to operate, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on farm machinery
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and efficiently in accordance with safety protocols
- Familiarity with farm equipment such as feeders, waterers, and cleaning tools
- Excellent observational skills to monitor animal health and identify potential issues early
- Good physical stamina for long shifts involving standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- Effective communication skills to work seamlessly within a team environment
- Knowledge of animal husbandry practices specific to swine production is a plus
