Field Service Technician

Location: Waterloo, Ontario

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: $45/hour

Schedule: Full-time; up to 70% travel required

Worklynx Recruitment Inc. is currently hiring a Field Service Technician for one of our clients located in Waterloo, Ontario.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Field Service Technician to support customers throughout North America and internationally. Reporting to the Field Service Supervisor, this role is responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintaining, and providing technical support for specialized industrial packaging equipment and solutions. The successful candidate will combine strong mechanical skills with electrical and automation knowledge and work directly with customers to ensure equipment is installed, serviced, and operating safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

- Travel to customer sites throughout North America and internationally to install, commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and support industrial equipment and solutions.
- Complete installation and service work safely, efficiently, and professionally while meeting customer requirements and quality standards.
- Represent the organization professionally and develop positive working relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Work closely with internal employees, contractors, and technical partners to support project execution and a seamless customer experience.
- Review project scope, drawings, machine layouts, and technical documentation to ensure customer requirements are understood and all necessary tools, equipment, materials, and resources are prepared.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and automation systems and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Modify, adapt, fabricate, weld, and fit mechanical components as required to ensure proper fit, function, and performance.
- Provide technical training and support to customers on the installation, operation, maintenance, and adjustment of equipment.
- Conduct pre-installation and post-installation meetings and provide clear communication regarding project status, technical issues, risks,



and recommendations.
- Provide detailed technical feedback, measurements, drawings, photographs, and recommendations to support root-cause analysis, corrective actions, continuous improvement, and product enhancements.
- Complete required documentation accurately and on time, including service reports, expense reports, risk assessments, customer request forms, and non-conformance reports.
- Conduct site-specific risk assessments and ensure appropriate PPE and safety controls are in place prior to commencing work.

• Support remote technical assistance, customer service activities, product evaluations, audits, and other technical initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

- College diploma, technical school diploma, trade certification, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in field service, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, packaging equipment, automation, or a related technical field.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, and commissioning industrial equipment in a customer-facing setting.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt, modify, machine, fabricate, weld, and fit mechanical components to address installation challenges and customer-specific requirements.
- Knowledge or experience with automation, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and industrial control systems is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, mechanical layouts, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
- Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or DraftSight is an asset.
- Proficiency with standard measuring equipment, including vernier calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.




- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to customers, suppliers, contractors, and fellow employees.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, including the ability to prepare service reports, technical recommendations, installation records, and other required documentation.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and adapt to changing customer requirements and project schedules.
- Professionalism, sound judgment, integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's licence with a strong driving record.
- Valid passport and the ability to travel throughout Canada, the United States, and internationally, including travel on short notice when required.
- Ability to perform installation and service activities that may occasionally involve lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
- Experience with on-site risk assessments, hazard evaluations, and safe work practices is an asset.

• CPR, First Aid, Respirator Training, Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platform, Forklift, or other industrial safety certifications are considered assets.
