Position Information

Position Type: Full time

Rate of Pay: $21.12 per hour

Shift Premium: Additional $1.00 per hour for overnight shifts The Janitorial / Custodial Site Cleaner role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Duties include both routine and intensive cleaning tasks such as floor care, carpet shampooing, surface washing, window cleaning, and waste removal. The role also involves basic upkeep activities and reporting any equipment issues or maintenance concerns to management.

Minimum Requirements

- Language Proficiency: Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Physical Ability: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours per day)
- Work Schedule: Availability to work seven consecutive days without interruption
- Safety Training: Valid CSO (Common Safety Orientation) or equivalent certification (BSO or CSTS-09/OSSA Regional Orientation accepted; CSTS-2020 is not accepted)
- Driver’s License: Unrestricted FULL Class 5 Driver’s License (mandatory)
- Certification Proof: Documentation must be provided upon request

Applicants who do not currently hold the required safety certification may independently register for and complete the CSO course through the Energy Safety Canada website.



Completion of the course does not guarantee employment but will be considered during the selection process. Transportation & Travel

Transportation to and from the work location is arranged from the following points:

- Fort McMurray: Bus transportation
- Edmonton International Airport (YEG): Fly-In/Fly-Out
- Calgary International Airport (YYC): Fly-In/Fly-Out

Key Responsibilities
- Perform duties both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme cold (down to -35°C), rain, and heat depending on the season
- Follow a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation, working 12-hour shifts and staying in camp accommodations (Condensed Work Week; no overtime; schedule is non-negotiable)
- Walk extensively throughout the day, including climbing stairs and navigating active construction areas near heavy equipment
- Transport cleaning supplies between trailers; lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs
- Operate company pickup trucks to move between different on-site locations
- Begin workdays early, with wake-up times between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. for a 6:30 a.m. shift start
- Comply with PPE requirements at all times, including hard hat and safety glasses (employees must supply their own CSA-approved safety boots)
- Complete all cleaning tasks, including washrooms, lunchrooms, office trailers, garbage collection, sweeping, and extensive manual mopping using equipment weighing approximately 5 lbs
