About PFM Construction

PFM Construction Inc. is a civil construction contracting company based in Langley, BC. We're mid-transition from corporate-level accounting to full job costing, rolling out HCSS

HeavyBid/HeavyJob, and building out formal tracking, reporting, and cost-code structures across the business.

The Role

We need a Controller who can build and run job costing from the ground up — not oversee a function that already exists. This is a doer role. You'll be hands-on with the numbers, not managing someone else who is.

You'll report directly to the Owner and take ownership of getting accounting-level job costing fully operational, working alongside our Director of Operations and our external tracking/reporting consultant.

What You'll Own

- Build and run job costing at the accounting level — linking project controls data to the general ledger, which does not currently exist
- Stand up and manage AR/AP tracking by project
- Oversee payroll-by-job tracking through Wagepoint




- Work with our tracking/reporting consultant on cost codes and scope codes, and ensure the accounting structure supports them
- Manage the relationship with our external bookkeepers/accountants as we shift from corporate-level to job-level accounting
- Produce monthly financial statements, job cost reports, and cash flow visibility
- Build internal controls and accounting policies as the company scales
- Support budgeting and forecasting at the project and company level

What You Bring

- CPA designation
- 3-5 years of experience as a Controller in the construction industry
- Direct experience with job costing and construction ERP/accounting systems (QBO, HCSS

HeavyBid/HeavyJob experience a robust plus)
- Comfortable building processes from scratch, not just running existing ones
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working directly with raw project data
- High attention to detail
