Summary of Position

Abalone Construction is a privately owned company with over 30 years’ experience specializing in Industrial and Commercial civil construction. We offer construction services in a variety of markets including Infrastructure, Roadbuilding, and Land Development.

Reporting to the foreman, operators are an integral member of field operations. They are responsible for providing support on all of our projects.

Role and Responsibilities

Capable of fine grading and finishing operating tracked skid steers (CAT, John Deere, BobCat)





Operate and maintain equipment in a protected and efficient manner

Follow all company policies & procedures

Carry out minor maintenance and inspection of equipment, reporting deficiencies as required

Interpret grade stakes

Assist other operators, labourers as required

Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications, Training and Education

Minimum 5 years’ experience operating skid steer in a civil construction

Gradesman experience is considered an asset

Must have valid CSTS 2020, WHMIS 2015, Ground Disturbance Level 2 and CSA approved 8” steel toe work boots

Be hard working and possess a positive attitude and a willingness to learn

Personal vehicle and valid driver’s license

Working Conditions

Operators will be working outside in all weather conditions. They must be able to spend long periods of time sitting in their vehicle, or walking/standing on the job site. They must be willing to commit to 50 + hours per week at various project locations. Typical shifts are 7:00am - 5:30pm.
