Role Description The Fire Sprinkler Designer is a full-time, in office role based in Winnipeg, MB, responsible for preparing detailed fire sprinkler system designs and layouts in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting architectural and engineering drawings, developing hydraulic calculations, selecting appropriate equipment and materials, and producing coordinated CAD drawings and design documents. The person in this role collaborates with project managers, engineers, and installation teams to ensure designs are practical, code-compliant,



and aligned with project timelines and budgets.

Additional responsibilities may include updating designs based on field conditions, assisting with permitting documentation, and supporting quality assurance checks throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

- Strong technical design skills, including experience with CAD or similar drafting software for fire protection.
- Knowledge of applicable fire codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, local building and fire codes) and the ability to apply them in design work.
- Solid analytical and mathematical skills for hydraulic calculations and system sizing.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with project teams, contractors, and clients.
- High attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Prior experience in fire sprinkler design, fire protection engineering, or a related field is an asset.
- Post-secondary education or technical training in engineering technology, drafting, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Willingness to learn and stay current with evolving fire protection technologies, standards, and best practices.
