Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly

Shift Work Required: Yes - Shift work may be required

Rate of Pay: $32.95 to $37.50 per hour The start date will follow the selection process. Main Function: Operate Flusher/Vacuum mechanical units in the wastewater collection system/storm water system.

Characteristic Duties: Under the general supervision of a Water/Wastewater Supervisor II or Roads Operation Foreperson.

- Perform operational and maintenance functions necessary for safe and efficient service to consumers of distribution and collection facilities.
- Report immediately any defects in wastewater collection system.
- Supervise up to three (3) persons in the performance of routine duties.
- Carry out preventative maintenance of wastewater collection system and complete reports on same.
- Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS’s Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications Education and Training:

- Successful completion of Secondary School Education (Grade XII).

Experience

- Minimum of two (2) years experience with proven ability to safely and efficiently operate a vactor/hydro-excavation truck with all attachments.

Other Requirements

- Must possess sufficient mechanical knowledge to avoid damage to equipment.
- Ability to read and follow manufacturers’ instruction manuals for equipment operation and maintenance.
- Ability to effectively complete M.M.M.S. crew cards.
- Ability to read and understand plans used in maintenance.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
- May require the use of a CGS vehicle on CGS business.



Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid “DZ” driver’s licence, and have an acceptable driving record.

This job is also being posted as a development opportunity. Should there be no fully qualified candidate for this position, a candidate who can be expected to meet the required qualifications within a reasonable period of time may be considered for this position as a development prospect. Development opportunity rate of pay: $31.30 to $35.63 per hour. The successful candidate will be paid at the reduced rate until the minimum qualifications have been met.
